What our customers said

“It was not without considerable caution that I decided to send my Mark VI to KB Sax 2,500 miles across the country. It is an emotional decision to part with an appendage. After a lot of research I knew I was dealing with a reputable company. They did not try to low-ball an offer, but came up with a fair price. My experience was that I was treated with highest level of professionalism. Kim Bock kept me informed throughout the process. My check was mailed promptly. I can personally recommend this company for any transactions, and give them a five star rating.”
“Selling a horn with KB Sax harkens back to the days of the old-school music stores where the owner was a pro musician and knew every customer by name. Personal attention and intimate knowledge of the craft is a dying art in our culture but it’s the order of business at KB Sax. Everything is first-rate from customer service to the photos they take for you to access to customers all around the globe. That’s why I call Kim’s shop “The Saxophone Spa!!”

"I consigned my Selmer Balanced Action tenor with KB Sax. I felt really well taken care of. Kim was transparent about the sale price and what I will be paid. And the best part is Kim has the clientele to move such a good horn which I don’t have! So I was happy to leave it in his hands. I didn’t need to wait for too long before he found it a new happy home. World class service provided."

Q & A

1) I want to sell my saxophone but I am not located in your area. What should I do?

Please call or email us with some basic info about your saxophone:

(1) Brand and model (eg. Selmer Mark VI or Selmer Radio Improved)
(2) Type (eg. tenor, alto)
(3) Serial number (or year of make)
(4) A few high resolution pictures of the saxophone (if available)
(5) The best way for us to contact you
(6) Your price expectation (if known)

We will call you back or reply to your email as soon as we can.

2) What kind of saxophones do you normally buy?
Since our shop specializes in vintage Selmer Paris saxophones, that includes Balanced Action, Super Balanced Action and Mark VI, those are the horns we are interested in.
3) I am located outside USA/Canada, will you be interested in buying my saxophone?

It depends since we will have to take into consideration the import duties and the increased risk of damage to the saxophone during international transit.

4) How do I ship my saxophone to you?

We want to make it as easy for you as possible. If you are located in the contiguous US, we will be happy to send you a shipping box that is correctly sized for your saxophone, together with bubble wrap and tape that you will need for packing. This service is at no cost to you. In addition, we will also include a pre-paid UPS label for you to ship the saxophone to us. All you need to do, is to pack up the saxophone securely and drop off the box at your local UPS store.

Before packing, we highly recommend that you watch our demonstration videos on how to pack a saxophone for shipping.

Unfortunately, we have seen too many saxophones getting damaged during shipping due to poor packaging. We kindly ask you to ensure that the saxophone is packed securely. Damage to the saxophone in transit will lower the value of your horn.

If you already have all the shipping supplies, great! Please ship it to us insured.

Our address is:

5) How about payment? When will I get paid?
As soon as the pricing and terms are agreed, we will send you a Purchase Agreement as our commitment to the purchase. We will also include a Bill of Sale for you to sign and return to us along with the saxophone. Payment will be made to you by company check (or wire transfer if you are outside US) within 7 days after the saxophone is received by us.
6) Can I consign my saxophone with you? What are your rates?

Sorry, currently we are not taking in consignment.

7) I am located in or near NYC. What are your opening hours so I can stop by?

Our shop hours are flexible and is by appointment only. Please call ahead and arrange.

8) I have a question that is not listed here, can I call you?

Absolutely! Please call Kim Bock at 212-683-2985 or email him at info@kbsax.com. If we cannot pick up the phone, please leave us a message and we will call you back as soon as we can.

"Kim's a first-rate technician and player, which informs his deep knowledge about saxophone makes, models, and vintages. He's also unfailingly professional, courteous and pleasant to deal with. Customers know that if they buy an instrument from Kim, it will be as represented, and playing at its very best -- which makes selling them, with his help, a breeze. He also routinely has an impressive inventory of horns to choose from, which I think speaks to how he's viewed in the marketplace by pros and collectors alike. One of the best around. Highly recommended."

I have sold several saxophones through consignment with Kim. The process for consigning a horn with him is very easy and straightforward. Kim's evaluation skills are finely tuned and he works with you to come up with a reasonable price. Kim is also an accomplished player and his video demonstrations of the horns are a very effective showcase. Through Kim, I have sold 5 or 6 horns. They all went fairly quickly, most of them in a matter of months. I highly recommend Kim and his staff at KB Sax.
