Sound characteristics:
The Vanguard Hand Hammered Bronze is our brightest neck. The brightness is nicely balanced out by a rich mid-tone presence. It is the least resistant of the Vanguard necks and although it has the most spread tonal feel in the line, it retains an excellent core projection. It is a powerful and resonant neck, reminiscent of the best of the mid-period SBA necks.

Like with the hand hammered copper neck, hand hammering our Vanguard bronze neck tube compacts and hardens the metal, thereby shaping the sound and response characteristics.
Our signature design of hand hammering our bronze (and copper tubes) are not merely for the stunning visuals. Inspired by the legendary cymbal makers of the past, where master craftsmen painstakingly hand hammered each cymbal to bring out the exact resonance they were seeking, so it is with the hand hammered KB Sax necks.
We have developed a very precise and deliberate hand hammering process that both hardens the necks so they are not prone to pulldowns, but also brings out the desired sound, resonance and response characteristics of the neck.

Definition of the 7 parameters
(1) Sound: Pure (straight and uniform) to Complex (colorful and timbral variation)
(2) Tonal Feel / Feedback: Slender (narrow with back pressure) to Wide (open and free blowing)
(3) Tonal Color at medium & (4) at maximum volume: Dark to Bright. The sound on a dark to bright scale when playing at medium and at maximum playing level.
(5) Projection at medium & (6) at maximum volume: Focused to Spread. Where the neck is on the focused to spread spectrum and the change as you increase volume.
(7) Dynamic range: Small to Large. The dynamic range of the neck.
