Do I need a new saxophone neck?

Maybe not! You might have just the right neck for your horn and for what you are looking for in terms of sound and response. However, there are a number of situations where you might consider trying a new neck.

1: You current neck has been damaged, possibly beyond repair. This could be a bad pull down or some serious dents, etc – something that ended up changing the sound and response in a negative way.

2: Although your current saxophone neck looks to be in fine condition, there is always this fundamental thing in the sound and response of your horn that you are not 100% happy with. 4: No matter how much you are trying different reeds and mouthpieces, the altissimo range is just way to hard to get out! That high G# is always crapping out on you just when you need to hammer it out and the range up there just feels weak!
